Learning with Idioms

One of the best ways to learn English is by studying English idioms. English idioms are not verbs. They are language phrases that cannot be translated. The best way to learn idioms is by memorizing them. You can find them regularly in newspapers and magazines.  I will start to post on this website a list of some of these idioms. Let's start with the the first two examples.

  • Idiom: Sticky Finger and Take off

  • Defenition for sticky finger =  Someone who steals
  • Defenition for take off =  To leave

  • Sentence:
  • The sticky-finger shopper took off — running east on 56th Street towards Park Avenue.
